Foreigners Get Turkish Tapu Ownership Transfered In 3 Days

A recent housing law amendment in January 2014 by the General Directorate of Land Registry TKGM allows foreigners to get the tapu name title transfer to their name very quickly. During the past years the buying process for both Turkish and foreigners were the same, however foreigner buyers had to wait for the Aegean Military approval paperwork to come back, that took anywhere from 1-3 months to complete the official purchase.

This regulation was a screen check for the property being purchased to ensure that the property purchased by a foreigner was located within municipality boundaries, and not within forbidden, military zones, mining and energy zones or historical zones.

The deal is that if a previous foreign citizen has bought real estate in the same island/plot land number after 2011 March, that it would set an example for the next foreigner buyer, thus does not require for the real estate screen check to be done.

With this new regulation in effect foreigners can get the tapu name title transferred to their name and complete the purchase in 1-3 days. "The file congestion for applications have greatly reduced", stated an official from the Antalya tapu office. This new regulation has helped foreigners complete the buying process with the seller in no time, allowing them to also take advantage of hot or urgent property deals out on the local market.
