Huge increase in building permit applications
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the building permit statistics.
- The number of buildings related to building licenses issued by municipalities in the first quarter of the year increased by 131.8 percent, the area increased by 87.5 percent, the value increased by 144.3 percent, and the number of apartments increased by 105.6 percent.
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), 58.6 percent of the total area was residential.
- A total of 33.2 million square meters, including 19.5 million square meters of Turkish residential, 7.5 million square meters of non-residential and 6.3 million square meters of common use area of the buildings granted a building license.
During the same period, the number of buildings associated with building permit documents issued by Turkish municipalities increased by 12.5 percent, the area increased by 4.4 percent, the value increased by 34.5 percent, and the number of apartments increased by 2.1 percent.
- A total of 33.2 million square meters, including 18.2 million square meters of residential, 8.1 million square meters of non-residential and 6.9 million square meters of common use area, were given a building use permit.
According to the purpose of using buildings in the first three months of 2021, 24.7 million square meters had the highest share of residential buildings in Turkey with two or more apartments. This was followed by wholesale and retail commercial buildings with 1.8 million square feet.
