The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced housing sales data for May. The impact of Covid-19 saw a large drop in both domestic and foreign purchases.
Home sales across Turkey decreased by 44.6 percent in May 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year and was 50,936.
Istanbul had the highest share of residential sales, with sales of 7,460 houses and 15 per cent. According to the sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with sales of 4,939 houses and 9.7 percent share, followed by Izmir with sales of 3,96 houses and 6.1 percent share.
The provinces where the number of housing sales was low were Ardahan with 4 dwellings, Hakkari with 15 dwellings and Tunceli with 21 dwellings respectively.
